      Klein Parys Family Collection

Klein Parys Vineyards is the home of top quality wines produced by world renowned winemaker Kosie Möller. This historical estate situated in Paarl in the heart of the picturesque wine lands of the Cape is well known for producing award winning wines and a major attraction for wine lovers. 60km from Cape Town, Paarl (derived from the "Pearl of the Cape") is a major attraction for tourists.

Klein Parys Vineyards (56ha) is the oldest and most historic estate in Paarl. Klein Parys was handed out to the French Huguenots by Willem Adriaan van der Stel, the then governor of the Cape, in 1692, only 40 years after Jan Van Riebeeck arrived in the Cape with his boat the Drommedaris. Kosie Möller, together with his wife Beatrix, sons Kosie, Niclas and Charl-Sias acquired the estate in 2002 and has since established it as an iconic estate in the production of premium wines in the Cape.

Kosie is one of the most renowned and awarded winemakers from South Africa. Receiving BSc Agriculture (Oenology, Viticulture and Chemistry) degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 1991 his unique style of innovation and winemaking was established by travelling extensively and gathering experience at various well-known wineries all over the world. Being the most awarded winemaker since 1994 out of South Africa, including the accolades Baron Philippe de Rothschild Trophy (Best Merlot, International Wine & Spirit Competition, London), Best Cabernet Sauvignon of the World, Canada and Best Chardonnay, Paris.

Passion, special care and personal attention from the winemaker, top quality grapes and a state of the art winery results in world class wines produced at Klein Parys Vineyards.

Charl-Sias Selection - Cap Classique Champagne

Varieties: Unique Cap Classique Champagne, produced from Nouvelle, Viognier, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: Crisp, refreshing with yeasty well-balanced mouth feel.
Age of vines: 8-10 years

Winemaking: The grapes are fermented in stainlessteel tanks between 12 and 14 C Matured after fermentation for 2 years on the lees in this bottle.
Harvest: Grapes are harvested between February & March by hand producing 8-10 tons/hectare

Beatrix Selection - French Bordeaux Style Blend

Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Shiraz
Tasting Notes: Full-bodies firm tannins with powerful middle palate of spice, berries & tobacco.
Age of vines: 12-15 years

Trellis System: Hedge
Vine Density: 1.2m x 2.0m
Soil: Deep red. Hutton & Clovelly soil
Climate: Mediterranean, moderately warm summers with cold & wet winters. The area has an annual rainfall of approximately 750mm
Winemaking: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot harvested at 25 to 26 degrees Balling. Macerated at 20 degrees Celsius for 7 days. Fermented at 28 to 32 degree celsius till dry with frequent pumpovers in tank.
Malolactic fermentation was allowed in barrels. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in French 300 Litre barrels, while Shiraz in American 225 Litre barrels. The wines were matured separately for 14 months in these barrels, before being blended and matured another 4 months in a mix of American and French oak.
Harvest: Grapes are harvested between February & March by hand producing 4-6 tons/hectare

Niclas Selection - Rhone Style Blend

Varieties: Shiraz & Sangiovese
Tasting Notes: Powerful, full-bodied with a warm, velvety finish
Age of vines: 12-15 years

Jacob Selection - Cape Blend

Varieties: Pinotage, Cab Franc & Petit Verdot

Chenin Blanc: A lively fresh wine, underlined by a greenish tint, bold though crisp with intense tropical flavors and a vibrant fruity palate.
Chardonnay: Introduced by citrus, butterscotch flavors, this delicate wine has a soft pronounced finish. Beautifully balanced with a hint of velvety oak.
Sauvignon Blanc: From the cooler climates of the Cape. Zesty tropical, gooseberry aromas and a lingering fruity aftertaste

Red Wines

Age of vines: 12-15 years

Harvest: Grapes are harvested between February & March by hand with 4-6 tons/hectare

Cabernet Sauvignon: Deep inky purple colours highlights the intensity of this wine. Powerful tobacco, cedar and spicy aromas with lingering ripe blackberry, cherry and chocolate flavors
Shiraz: Spicy, Smokey, aromas with gentle well – integrated tannins on the palate and a soft delicate finish.
Merlot: A luscious, full bodied win with nutty, spicy nuances and a lingering, smooth finish.

      TOOVERBERG Collection:

Tooverberg, which translates as “Magic Mountain”, is the Afrikaans name for a spectacular flat-topped, isolated peak in the Little Karoo region to the north of Paarl. This mountain was well known to the early “trekkers” (farmers) from the Cape heading into the interior, as a landmark and resting place, on the long trip up to Johannesburg.

This is a vast, 3000Ha mixed estate, which is managed for vines and sheep farming but which is also being enclosed to protect and encourage the wild game; Springbok, Kudu and even Leopard. It is still a wild and beautiful place about 80km from the nearest “major” town, Ceres.

Due to the isolation of the farm there is no winery there, so the fruit is entirely vinified at Klein Parys Vineyards.

Tooverberg Contour Selection - Merlot

Merlot, one of the 5 classical Bordeaux varietals produced in a New World style.
Varieties: Produced from specially selected vineyards from various regions of the Western Cape. 95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
Age of vines: 12-15 years
Rootstock: Richter 99
Trellis System: Hedge
Vine Density: 1.2m x 2.0m
Soil: Deep red. Hutton & Clovelly soil
Climate: Mediterranean, moderately warm summers with cold & wet winters. The area has an annual rainfall of approximately 750mm
Winemaking & Harvesting: Grapes from selected vineyards are harvested by hand at 25-27 C. Fermentation is allowed in stainless steel tanks. Frequent pump-overs allows extraction of neft gentle tannins and intense color. Malolactic fermentation and maturation in 300L oak barrels results in a full bodied, smooth wine.

Tooverberg Contour Selection - Chenin Blanc

Excellent example of this typical South African varietal for a Chenin Blanc.
Varieties: Produced from specially selected vineyards from various regions of the Western Cape.

Winemaking & Harvesting: Grapes are harvested by hand at 21-22 C from selected cool climate vineyards. Fermentation at 13-15 C maintain the fruit and create a fresh crisp aroma. Maturation on the course lees creates a creamy, well rounded mouthful. A truly great example of top quality Chenin Blanc.

Tooverberg Red Wine Selection

Age of vines: 10-15 years

Soil: Selection of soils
Climate: Mediterranean, moderately warm summers with cold & wet winters. The area has an annual rainfall of approximately 750mm
Winemaking & Harvesting: Grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness by hand from selected vineyards. Fermented at 26-28 C with frequent pump-overs extracting the soft gentle tannins. Malolactic fermentation allowed together with treatment of matured French oak staves. Blended to perfection.

Cabernet/ Shiraz: A complex well balanced wine with lovely cassis and spicy aromas. Has a long, mouth filling finish with soft, velvety tannins and well integrated oak nuances.
Shiraz: Spicy, smoky aromas with gentle well - integrated tannins on the palate and a delicate finish.
Pinotage: Deep purple colour with ripe plum, cherry and aromatic spicy aromas and has creamy ripe cherry, chocolate and cinnamon flavors on the palate.
Cabernet Sauvignon: Full bodied, cassis, spicy aromas. Juicy, luscious fruit with subtle lingering finish and well integrated matured oak maturation.

Tooverberg White Wine Selection

Semillion/Chardonnay: Tropical, citrus flavors harmoniously blended to perfection. Lots of finesse with a well- rounded crisp, smooth finish.
Sauv Blanc: Crisp, fruity with grassy, tropical undertones. Refreshing with a smooth subtle finish
Chenin/Chard: A crisp and refreshing wine with layered nuances of tropical and citrus fruits. It is smooth with great balance and has a mouth filling, long finish.

      Millers Mile Collection:

Klein Parys VineyardsThe name Miller's Mile originates from Kosie Möller (the Möller ancestors were millers in Germany) and his farm Klein Parys, which is stretched out for a Mile next to the Berg River outside Paarl.

For more than 350 years, the cultures of Africa, Europe and the East have gathered in Cape Town, gateway to the South African Winelands, a city rich with colourful history and culturally vibrancy. In terms of world wine production, the Miller's range has adopted this vibrant, diverse culture.

South Africa ranks as number nine in volume production & produces 3.1% of the world’s wine. Currently 98 605 hectares of vines constitutes plantings for wine in South Africa. White varietals constituting 55% of the plantings, with Chenin Blanc plantings comprising 20% of the total. Red varietals account for 45% of the national vineyard. The most widely planted red varietal is Cabernet Sauvignon, accounting for 15% of the total. Shiraz now accounts for 9%, while Pinotage, which is indigenous to South Africa, and Merlot each represent 7%. The Miller's Mile range consists of all these cultivars and blends them very well to create and even more unique style own to Kosie Möller.

The traditional viticultural regions of the Cape Peninsula and surrounding regions have a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and good winter rainfall, making irrigation unnecessary in most regions.

Cabernet: Full bodied, cassis, spicy aromas. Juicy, luscious fruit with subtle lingering finish and well integrated matured oak maturation.
Merlot: Spicy, smoky aromas with gentle well-integrated tannins on the palate and a soft delicate finish.
